A solo honeymoon in Maldives (Day II)

So early in the morning.

Good morning everyone. I Just woke up. Yesterday was a very relaxing night. I went to my villa after sunset. That was the last time I updated you. The night was really dark with hints of light coming from everywhere. The sky was a beautiful shade of dark blue with no stars at all, yet beautifully merging with the ocean before me. I decided to change into my swimwear and hope into the pool which was so cool. I stayed there for a while, After that I sat down watching the ocean, listening to the waves till I became so calm and ready to call it a day. Now It's so early. I'm ready for my coffee and excited for the day.

I think I'll hit the Conch Bar here as I want to save the other one for dinner or lunch.

Walking on the platform from my villa to the beach makes me feel like I'm in one of those luxurious commercials. The bar is over there. One of the nicest things about this island is that wherever I choose to enjoy a meal I'm always surrounded by a beautiful scenery to look at. The bar here is by the ocean but not on the sand. I can see a free table over there. I think I found my seat. There aren't so many people here, I thought I'd be seeing more.

I guess I'm one of the ones who are searching for an adventure not relaxation after all. Putting that a side for now. I want my coffee.

The menu here is so,, so,, how can I describe it? So Western like?! It has pancakes, toast and burgers. The food is less Maldivian like so, choosing would be less challenging which I'm so grateful for at this time of the day. I'll get avocado toast with crabmeat with freshly brewed coffee. See you after breakfast with my first activity.

Now I'm full and fully awaken. That was delicious.

I want my day to include so much fun, like ocean all day, from tube riding, snorkeling, wakeboard riding, KAYAKS & SUP (which is paddling) , parasailing to watching the dolphins. I really want to try windsurfing too but I can't even ride a skateboard so I think I'll try that somewhere else when I get proper training and when I have more time.

I don't think I can fit all of those in one day so let's roll with what I have now and we will both see how much I can fit in a day before my body can no longer hold itself straight. (Which I usually tend to push it far beyond its' limit.)

The first available things are snorkeling and diving. I'll report to you when I'm out of the ocean.

Couple of hours later...

Sorry I took my time and didn't tell you what happened. I lost track of time as I was in a WOW and enjoyed myself so much. First we went snorkeling (which I discovered is different from diving as in less equipment and depth.) It was amazing and awesome. First we went somewhere where we could see many turtles. I could touch them and that was so cooooool! The marine life is so wonderful here. We went from the reef with many turtles to another deeper one where we could see so many marine life. The water is so clear that the colors were shining through. The corals were stunning and the little fishes were swimming together. There were so many kinds. I loved loved loved this. I got you a little clip to see.

To tell you the truth I was so afraid to go swimming in front of my villa, it seemed very deep to me to go alone and I was kinda afraid of the fishes (that's so embarrassing, don't tell on me please!), so taking the decision to go snorkeling wasn't something easy, but after going, I became 100% sure that I'm all in for diving and I really did that. If what I saw during snorkeling was amazing, what even deeper was indescribably breathtaking, see! What I really loved seeing up close was the angelfish, specially that I see it a lot from my villa day and night and could be seen from the beach around the whole island. What I didn't see were the sharks and the dolphins. I was looking forward/ terrified of the idea of swimming knowing that there were sharks around or that the marine creature would interact with me, yet I was looking forward to live the experience. Each of diving and snorkeling took a good chunk of time, specially that I paid for a beginner training for each before going in the ocean. I can swim, yet I'm not that confidant in going underwater and I thought that I'd be more comfortable if someone told me what to do before going in. I think that money was well paid. Yet that took much more time than I initially anticipated.

Now I'm on the boat again after going back for an outfit change to go and see the dolphins. Actually it's a ride around for about an hour and half yet I'm here to see the dolphins and they are there, look! That's my first time seeing them. From here, if they stay underwater, I think I will definitely mistake them for sharks, if I didn't already know that we will see dolphins. Their skin look so smooth and slippery (an aerodynamic shape if I have a saying in it) and I can see them through the water. They are so energetic and look over there, there are a lot of them. They are loud too!

This is one of the most magnificent experience I've ever had in my entire life. Now after that long busy, wet morning, I'm ready for a feast not a lunch. I'm still up to have lunch in that beach bar. Like that I will have visited every place I could visit here, because I'm looking forward to tomorrow's lunch of all the lunches I've had till now for my entire life. I'm keeping why as a secret till tomorrow. Now let me go and eat, your girl is starving.

Food time, I'm back where I had lunch yesterday. The beach bar will be waiting for me tonight.

For the main dish I'll get the 'Maldivian fish with curry and ravioli'. I'll get 'Deep-Fried Breadfruit' because it looks tempting. That's all for the sour food. I think I'll order the dessert now too. 'Handulu Bondibai' this is quite interesting. The waiter just told me that this is sweetened sticky rice and is a special dessert made by Maldivians for special occasions like the birth of a child. The dish is traditionally prepared with rice and breadfruit or sago. So much to digest...

Here is my food. The ravioli and curry smell AMAZING! They taste as good as they smell. The Breadfruit has a unique shape. It makes me feel like I ordered fried pineapple yet it tastes like potatoes. I like how it tastes though. I don't want to go heavy on lunch as I still have lots of activities left to be done, even though I'd would want nothing more than an alcoholic beverage. (and maybe more food!) I'll be looking forward to it tonight.

OK, I've been deceived! The 'Handulu Bondibai' is just milk with rice.... I didn't anticipate that. It tastes good, like real good, even though it has that coconuty taste to it.

Now I'm energized again and ready to hit the ocean.

First thing first, I'm dying to try the parasailing. SOOOOOOOOOOOO Here I go.

Now I'm on a speedboat and I'm getting ready to fly! TTUL.

OMG! That was a life time experience. (I know I say that about so many things but truly they are!) I had so many mixed feelings, from excitement to a huge rush of adrenaline to anxiety to pure excitement again to happiness and content then I'm so sad it ended.

First of all we flew out of the boat (I said we cause I had someone with me) then we started to rise higher and higher till we reached a good height then my anxiety kicked in. What would happen if that rope was to cut off or what if they simply let go! Well, that wouldn't happen but I had to have my moment. After that I enjoyed it more and more feeling the freedom and the enjoyment of being in the air. I WAS FLYING! Can you believe it! I still can't. Come, see and tell me.

I really want to do more stuff but the rest of this day can't take more than one more activity if I want to hit the spa so I think I'll try KAYAKS & SUP. I'll go and check it out now.

So apparently there are 2 kinds of KAYAKS & SUP, the sitting in a boat paddling one and the standing up one. The standing up paddling is more interesting and challenging I thing so I'll roll with it. I'll tell you afterwards.

That was cool, funny and absolutely entertainment. once I get a hang of it, I liked it even more. Let me tell you that the trainer praised me saying I'm a fast learner. I'm considering surfing next time, maybe windsurfing too.

See how cool that was! Well, it wasn't all rainbows and sunshine. I fell into the water like zillion times. It was so hard at first but I like a challenge. What was really cool was falling into the water between the little fishes and I saw couple angelfishes too (I'm way less scared of them now). I'm so sad to see my time here coming to an end.So to end it with a high note (or a relaxed one to be more exact) I booked a spa treatment. See you tonight.

That was so relaxing. The smell in there was so nice and fresh. The staff were so nice too. I feel a lot lighter and my body is way less tense than before the spa. I went for a body massage and facial massage and treatment.

I'm glad I left the best for last. The beach bar is so romantic at night. It's lit by fire and candles and the ocean sound is so soothing. There was an option for couples to have one of the islands for the night or a significant time of the day all to themselves. I'd take that offer if I had my best friend with me right now (don't take it the wrong way). We have a private joke between the two of us that we'd buy an island and live together in it away from people (now that's between me, her and you all). That offer reminded me of her, so best friend, if you are reading this now, I found our destination yet it ain't cheap and not that faraway from civilization. Oh, food is provided too. Anyway I'm living to eat not the other way around, so I'm ordering again.

Don't talk about a real meal, I eat whatever I think is interesting, OK! So I'm ordering my dessert first 'Dhonkeyo kajuru' which is fried banana cake flavored with rose water or vanilla.

And If you don't think I'm getting some sort of beverage, you are wrong! I've been waiting for this the entire day. I'm getting 'Biyadhoo Special' which is a refreshing combination of alcohol and fresh juice. Mainly it is vodka, pineapple juice, and melon liqueur.

For what you can call a real food, I'm getting 'Kulhi Boakibaa' which is a is a fish cake. (Don't worry I'll get a slice.) I hope you are considering this a good meal cause I'm content with it.

Oh, there is a show tonight! That's great. Here comes my fooooood. The cake has a weird after taste to it but I don't hate it yet I'm not a fan. The bananas are amazing and hands down to my drink! I'll enjoy the rest of my night and check back with you afterwards.

Hey guys, did you fall asleep yet? I'm about to go into my villa but I wanted to stop to show you how beautiful this place is at night. I really enjoyed these two days. If I could say anything to sum this up I'd leave you with this.

See you tomorrow.

Vakivelan. (Which means goodbye in Maldivian language.)
